      Unfortunately the rain did not let up for the whole of the next day. Although we had all the wet gear required and had spoken about the possibility of rain beforehand, I had not quite prepared myself mentally for this happening. At various stages throughout the day as the rain beat into my face and I had almost lost my footing a few times I felt like giving up.
